Life after heart surgery is physically demanding. But what many women aren’t prepared for is the mental and emotional fatigue that can follow. For me, this showed up as cardiac depression—something I didn’t expect and didn’t know how to navigate at the time. Even as my body was healing, my mind felt unsettled, my energy was inconsistent, and I didn’t quite feel like myself.
There can be a quiet sense of vulnerability, a heightened awareness of your body, or an underlying tension that’s hard to explain. This part of recovery often goes unspoken—but it’s real, and it deserves just as much care and attention as the physical healing process.
